November Newsletter 2024
Gigs and Concerts!

Over the summer the band had a bit of a lull in gigs, but we were certainly still busy preparing for the National Finals in September where we saw two of our band, cornet Matthew Dewhurst and percussionist Lizzy (please insert right name) play with us at their first registered contest with us. The band was extremely happy with their performance having been drawn so late in the day and up against the best in the country and we came 11th overall.

As soon as that was over we were back in action the following weekend at a very exciting event, the Olympic and Paralympic Rowers Homecoming Parade in Henley. The band was privileged to be asked to lead an open top bus carrying the athletes through the town. It was a fantastic event and the band got mentioned on local news and radio and everyone had a great time (despite getting soaked by the rain!). It was also our percussionist, Matt Bray’s, first parade leading the band on bass drum and he did a brilliant job!

From the start of November until the end of the year, the band enters its busiest period. We are very much looking forward to returning to the Wokingham Fireworks Parade (2nd Nov) and the Wokingham Winter Carnival (24th Nov), and we are also honoured to once again support several Remembrance Day events across the area.

And then it will be December with Christmas upon us! We have so much going on in December including carolling outside Waitrose in Wokingham (8th/15th Dec) and various carol services, but our obvious highlight will be our Snowman Concert on 21st December. See the Snowman Poster in this newsletter for more information and how to book!

Keep your eye on facebook and our website for more information on where you can find the band over the Christmas period.

The Snowman is coming back to Wokingham
We had an independent draw of all our subscriber to win two tickets to our Snowman Concert.
Congratulations to Claire Morrison for winning this time!
